Spain starts to go away with Tome after the defeat of England

The Spanish women’s national team separated with the coach head Montse Tome and appointed Sonia Bermudez as her substitute.

The Spanish Football Federation has declared that the Tome contract will not be renewed when it expires on August 31st.

Tome, 43, became the first leader of Spain when he was appointed in September 2023, having acted as Jorge Vilda’s assistant until the 44 -year -old was fired in the middle of Luis Rubiales scandal.

He led the team to victory in the inaugural League of women’s nations in February 2024, but Spain has finished the latter classified in the euros After a defeat of penalty by England on July 27th.

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) thanked Tome for “his work, professionalism and dedication”, but said he will leave his role on August 31 when his agreement expires.

Bermudez won nine championship titles during a player career that brought her to Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Levante.

The 40 -year -old played 61 times for Spain and had been the head of the U23 coach until his promotion in the senior part.

He led Spain and competed in the 2015 World Cup, when Roja finished the bottom of their group.
