Speaker Abbass distributes 500 bicycles to teachers at the Zarai almajiri school


The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbass Tajuddeen, has suspended the distribution of 500 motorcycles to Islamic scholars in his constituency in Zaria Local Government Area of ​​Kaduna State as part of his empowerment programme.

Speaking at the end of the distribution held at Nuhu Babajo Stadium in Zaria city, the speaker said 500 Islamic Conventional School principals would benefit from the intervention, but in subsequent distributions a total of 1,500 scholars would benefit, bringing the number to 2,000 beneficiaries.

He stressed that the assistance to the almajiri teacher was intended to ease their transportation problem.

“I have a passion for teachers because I have thought about primary schools and colleges for years. As such I consider myself a teacher,” he said.

Dr Tajuddeen added that previously, more than 5,000 primary and secondary school teachers had received motorcycles to ease their transportation challenges.

Our correspondent reports that before the distribution of motorcycles, the speaker visited the ongoing election projects in Kofar Gayan where he inspected the construction of FCE, Zaria, College of Health Technology and College of Veterinary Health.
