Taraba: troops neutralize the bandit, recovers the AK-47 rifle

In line with the operational efforts in progress to free the status of Taraba of the criminal elements and restore peace in troubled areas, the troops of 6 Nigerian brigadier armies, the 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (Ottus) sector, have recorded a significant success following a recent strategic operational visit by the commander 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidies Bandawa in Bandawa.

The commander, during the visit, underlined the need for greater military presence and proactive operations within the general area. By acting quickly on this directive, the troops on a combat patrol along the Bandawa road – Karim Lamido contacted the suspicions bandits who attempted to interrupt the peace of the area.

In the short but ferocious encounter, the troops gallanding the criminals, neutralizing one of the bandits and successfully recovering an Ak-47 and thirty-nine (39) rifle of special ammunitions of 7.62 mm.

This operation is a testimony of the brigade commitment to safeguard lives and properties and ensure that the criminal elements do not find a safe refuge in the state of Taraba. Since then the troops have continued aggressive patrols and domain operations within the general area to maintain peace and reassure residents of their safety.

In a Related Development, and in Response to Tensions Beteween Locals in Kashimbila of Takum LGA, Taraba State and Jato aka of Kwande Lga, Benue State, Which Had Led To Attacks on Motorists Along the Kashimbila – Jato Aka Road, A Peace Meeting was convented on 12 May 2025 at the Palace of the Chief of Kashimbila, His Royal Highness Alhaji Zakeri Musa.

The security meeting, aimed at de-exciting tensions and guaranteeing the safety of road users, brought together the main parties concerned including police and division police officers (DPO) by LGA affected, youth leaders and representatives of the community.

At the end of the meeting, both communities accepted to embrace peace and avoid all forms of violence, committing themselves to work together for the safety and development of the region.

The Nigerian army of the Brigade urges all the citizens respectful of the law to continue to support the security agencies with timely and credible information that will improve the success of the current operations and peace efforts throughout the state of Taraba.
