The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is heading to the appeals court to challenge a Federal High Court ruling that is currently blocking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognizing its state congress.
Senator David Mark, who chairs the party’s factional National Working Committee, dismissed concerns over the legal hurdles, insisting the party’s path to the 2027 general election was still clear.
The court decision specifically targets the validity of the congress organized by Markus’ leadership team, casting a shadow over the party’s internal structure and its readiness for the upcoming elections. However, after a late night strategy session with his legal advisors in Abuja this Wednesday, the former Senate President expressed full confidence.
Speaking to party members, Mark stated, “You don’t need to be afraid about all the litigation before the party.” He stressed that the legal team had initiated an appeal and requested a stay of execution to neutralize the immediate impact of the verdict.

“I want to assure you that we will win in every case, and we will always vote in every election,” Mark said, reinforcing his commitment to the party’s 2027 roadmap.
As internal power struggles continued, the ADC leadership stated that they were legally ready to go to war. “We are more than prepared and prepared to deal with these cases, and we will do everything within the law to address each situation,” Mark said in his briefing.
Despite the complications of the litigation, the Senator made it clear he would remain involved in steering the party through the storm. “In this legal battle, even though I am not a lawyer, I will lead from the front, and we will definitely win,” he concluded.
Earlier in the evening, the party’s legal advisers had provided comprehensive details on the implications of the ruling, outlining a tactical approach to ensure the faction maintains its stance ahead of the next election cycle.
