The alleged $ 1,043, 000 fraud: the Supreme Court revokes the deposit of Fred Ajudua, brings him back to prison. – Thage

The Supreme Court of Friday 9 May 2025 allowed an appeal made by the Commission for economic and financial crimes, EFCC, against the decision of the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division that granted the deposit to a socialite, Fred Ajudua.

Ajudua is tried for presumably obtaining the sum of $ 1,043,000 (a million, forty -three thousand dollars from a Palestinian, Zad Abu Zalaf, in fraudulent circumstances.

At the beginning of the trial in 2005 before judge Mo Obadina of the high court of the state of Lagos sitting in Ikeja, Ajudua employed several legal technicalities to block the proceedings that made it difficult to arrange until the matter was again assigned to judge J. and Oyeefeso and following judge M. a dada before those who were armed on June 4, 2018.

Ajudua contested his denial of the deposit at the Court of Appeal of Lagos and the Court of Appeal granted him the deposit on September 10, 2018. Dissatisfied with the sentence, the EFCC approached the Apex Court in the number SC/ 51c/ 2019. Confiding the judgment of the Court of Appeal.

The Commission also filed another appeal before the Apex court at the top of the SC/912C/2018 number against the sentence of the Court of Appeal of Lagos who ordered to transfer the case from the Court of Justice Dada of the high Court of the Lagos State to another judge for the case to start De Novo.

During the ruling on the appeals on Friday, the Supreme Court allowed the appeals of the FCC and revoked the bail of Ajudua granted by the Court of Appeal, Lagos and restored the ruling of justice Dada who refused to grant him the deposit.

The Supreme Court also ordered that Fred Ajudua was postponed to the corrective center. The Court also directed that the chief judge of the state of Lagos should reassig the case to the judge Dada to continue the trial.

The Court Apex has also declared that the appeal on appeal No Sc/912C/2019 became academic since the payer in that appeal was against an order of the Court of Appeal, Lagos, transferring the case to another Court to start the Novo case.
