The campaign begins while Irc releases the final list of candidates for the Governor of Anambra – Thage

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INC) has published the final list of candidates for November 8, 2025, elections of the Governorate in the State of Anambra.

A declaration signed on Wednesday by the Commissioner and National President of Inc, the Committee for the education of information and voters, Sam Olumekun, indicated that on the whole, 16 political parties are putting the candidates for the elections in the field.

Giving a breakage of numbers, Iner said that 14 of the 16 candidates are males and two are females.

Noting that no further withdrawal or replacement of candidates will be allowed except in the case of the death of a candidate or a racing partner before the day of the elections, as required by section 34 (1) of the electoral law, the Commission has said that the political parties are now free to start their electoral campaigns in public from Wednesday 11 June 2025 and end at midnight on Thursday 6 November, 2025.

The declaration stated: “The public may remember that the Commission has recently published the personal details of the candidates that emerged from primaries conducted by political parties for the next elections of the Governorate of the State of Anambra. A total of 16 political parties loaded the details of their candidates (EC9 form) from the deadline of Monday at 18.00 on Monday 12 May 2025.

“In line with the provision of section 33 of the electoral law 2022, the political parties are authorized to replace their candidates who voluntarily withdraw from the tender. Consequently, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has conducted a new primary election to replace its candidate (AC) and the Neacius Skiie (AAC) and the Neacituium (AAC) and the Neacituium (AAC) Neapulius (AAC) and the New Walk (ACGATRIA) and the New Pazione (AAC).

“Consequently, the Commission publishes the final list of candidates who are contested in the elections of the Governorate of the State of Anambra.

“Sixteen out of 19 registered parts are participating in the elections, hence the African Action Congress (AAC) and the National Rescue Movement (NRM) have appointed women’s candidates, while six parts are putting the women who manage the women. Appointed a person with disabilities as a candidate.

“The complete list of candidates for party, age, genre and academic qualifications was loaded on our website and social media platforms for public information.

“With this publication, further withdrawals or substitutes of candidates will not be allowed except in the event of a candidate or a racing partner before the day of the elections, as required by section 34 (1) of the electoral law.

“In line with the supply of section 94 (1) of the electoral law 2022, the political parties are now free to start their electoral campaigns in public from Wednesday 11 June 2025 and end at midnight on Thursday 6 November 2025.

“As sanctous in sections 92 and 93 of the electoral law 2022, the Commission wishes to remind parties, candidates and political meetings and their supporters who are illegal to use an offensive language, carry out physical attacks for opponents during gatherings, processions and meetings or destroy their materials for the campaign.

“In the same way, all parties and candidates must have access without obstacles to public structures for media campaigns, external advertising and public gatherings and meetings. To avoid doubt, section 95 (2) of the electoral law 2022 prohibits the use of assignment for the benefit or disadvantage of any part or candidate.

“The elections of the Governor of the State of Anambra will be held on Saturday 8 November 2025.”
