The CDs reiterate the commitment of Nigeria for global peace
Abuja (Reporter Core) Chief of Defense Staff of Nigeria (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the unshakable commitment of the country for global peace and multilateral cooperation.
Gen Musa made known this Wednesday in Abuja while delivered his address to the commemoration of the United Nations International United Nations Day.

“The International Peace Day of the United Nations is not simply ceremonial,” he said. “It is a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have dedicated their lives to the noble cause of global peace and security. Our shared commitment to the ideals on which the United Nations were founded.”
The theme of this year, “Fit for the Future, building better together”, resounds strongly with the Nigeria approach to the maintenance of peace, multilateralism and global cooperation. General Musa stressed that no nation can effectively face today’s complex security challenges, which take place from terrorism to pandemics only. He reiterated the need for joint action, unit of purpose and respect for the principles sanctioned in the United Nations Charter.
“Nigeria has remained a constant contribution to the efforts of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace from independence”, observed General Musa. “Our troops have served with honor and distinction in numerous conflict areas, gaining Nigeria a position respected as one of the main collaborators of Africa at the United Nations missions.”
The CDS also praised the professionalism and integrity of the Nigerian Peacekeepers who act as contingents, observers, mediators and commanders in various missions. Furthermore, he underlined that the armed forces of Nigeria continually adapt to the dynamic panorama of global threats under his vision of leadership: “cultivating a professional armed forces of Nigeria focused on people, able to satisfy his constitutional responsibilities in a joint and collaborative environment”.
The army’s commitment to deepen cooperation with the United Nations also reaffirmed not only in the maintenance of peace, but also in the response to catastrophes, in the civil-military commitment and in sustainable development.
The main journalists report that General Musa expressed sincere appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, commander in chief of the armed forces, for his constant support. He also paid tribute to all peace, in particular the fallen Nigerian heroes, whose sacrifices laid the foundations for a more peaceful world. “We greet their courage and honor their inheritance,” he said.
