The court set April 29 for the arraignment of the woman accused of cyberstalking Umahi

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Friday set April 29 for the arraignment of a woman, Tracynither Ohiri, for allegedly cyberstalking the Minister of Public Works, David Umahi.

The judge adjourned the case to allow Ohiri to accept his plea after prosecution lawyer Wisdom Madaki prayed to the court for a brief adjournment so he could serve the accused who did not appear in court.

Judge Omotosho, on April 16, threatened to drop the charges filed by police against Ohiri, the sole defendant in the case.

The judge issued the warning following the prosecutor’s inability to produce Ohiri in court for arraignment.

Police have, in an indictment marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/172/2026, filed 13 amended charges of cyberstalking and defamation against Ohiri.

The complaint dated March 31 was filed on the same day by Madaki of the Legal Services Directorate of Police Headquarters, Abuja.

The prosecutor said the statement, which he knew to be false and threatening in nature, likely to cause fear and defamation, was punishable under Section 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) (Amendment) Act, 2024.
