The EFCC said the former humanitarian minister, Sadiya Farouq, was wanted for alleged fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, wanted for alleged fraud.

EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed this in a notice posted on the agency’s website on Saturday.

Farouq served as a minister under the late former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023.

According to Oyewale, the former minister was declared wanted for alleged criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.

β€œFarouk, 52 years old, is an indigene of Zamfara State and his last known address is listed at EN 008, Okpo River, at Agulu Road, Maitama, Abuja,” the notice read.

The spokesperson urged members of the public who have information about his whereabouts to contact the commission.

“The public is hereby informed that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photo is listed above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on suspicion of criminal conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds,” the notification added.
