The EFCC said the former minister, Farouk, was wanted for alleged diversion of public funds and other matters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said Sadiya Umar Farouq, former minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, is wanted for alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.

In a statement shared on its website, the anti-corruption agency said “anyone with useful information regarding his whereabouts” should contact the EFCC office via the number listed on the page.

The notice states, Farouq, 52, is an indigene of Zamfara State, and his last known address is EN 008, Okpo River, on Agulu Road, Maitama, Abuja.

The notice, signed by the Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, urged members of the public with information about his whereabouts to contact the commission.

The EFCC notice read, “The public is hereby informed that Sadiya Umar Farouq, whose photo appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in a case of alleged Criminal Conspiracy, Abuse of Office and Diversion of Public Funds.”

Farouq served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development under former President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2023.
