The IMF reduced the estimated global growth to 2.8% more than the uncertainty of the tariff

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday reduced its global economic growth for 2025 to 2.8 percent.

Bretton Wood Institution predicted that the waves of tariffs and uncertainties released by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, will lead to economic slowdown throughout the world.

The IMF revised the projection of 3.3 percent in January.

Global growth for 2026 is projected to fall to 3 percent, also down from 3.3 percent.

The IMF economic advisor, Pierre-Olivier Gourinche, said that in New York the world economy was being tested severely after the new rates announced by Trump.

He said the April forecast “put together in an extraordinary condition,

“Citing Trump’s announcement on April 2 that the US imposed a blanket rate of 10 percent on almost all trading partners, plus additional levies for a number of countries.

“While higher tariffs have been deferred for 90 days to enable trade negotiations, the policy causes IMF experts to ‘dispose of our projections.

“While many tariff increases are scheduled to be detained for now, the combination of steps and countermeasures has climbed the US and global tariffs to the highest one hundred years,” Goourinchas said.
