The athletes of the IMO Team gave a lively report of themselves on Monday at the first national games of young national teams of Asaba, Delta State, winning four silver medals through the paragraph table ping, arrows, crickets and powerlifting.
The cyclist OnaSanya Samuel opened the radius with a silver medal in the 80 km road running, while the victory of the Iwuoha weight lifter added a silver medal and two bronze in the 60 kg category to further increase the IMO count.
In Para Table Tennis, the Duo of Amarachi Blessing Nkwocha and Chizoba Ohaka fought gallantly but were eliminated by Abia’s GoodNews Young and Ikechi Victoria in the final of the girls, being content with silver.
Another silver came from the event for individual Darts 501 in which Grace Ebochukwu lost 2-0 against Jessica Okonkwo of the Delta team in the final.
Cricket’s team has also shown resilience, ending the classified to protect silver in the male hatred category.
Para Powerlifting has produced more joy for the Imo team, with Ojike Caleb who claimed second place in the 87 kg event.
With these results, the counting of the medals of the IMO Team is now at six silver medals and two bronze.
While the performances aroused applause, the officials stressed that there is still room for improvement while the IMO team continues their push for gold when the games resume on Tuesday.
