The global inauguration award ceremony and the Ambassador of Peace Award, jointly organized by the Global Peace Building Network (GPBNET) in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, United Kingdom (Ciepuk), was held on Sunday at the Rockview Hotel, Owerri.
With the theme “Building peace bridges in a divided world: to promote unity, dialogue and reconciliation”, the historic gathering has brought together important religious leaders, government officials, traditional sovereigns, representatives of the community and peace supporters from all 27 areas of the local government of the IMO State and beyond.
The event presented moving speeches, messages of goodwill, cultural displays and interactive sessions, under underlining the urgent need for dialogue, tolerance and reconciliation as the essential pillars of peaceful coexistence.
In his welcome address, Amb. Dr. Kelechi Anael, national coordinator of GPBNET, described peace as more than the absence of war, but rather the presence of justice, respect and harmony. He urged the participants to climb as “peace repairers and ambassadors of hope for generations to come”.
Prizes and recognition
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Global Peace Ambassadorial Awards to distinct personalities who demonstrated commitment to peace, service to the community and social harmony.

Other remarkable supporters of peace in the 27 LGA of IMO have also been recognized.
In their acceptance observations, the Honourees described the prize as an invitation to a greater service and have committed themselves to continuing to promote peace and unity in their communities.
A symbolic inauguration
The ceremony also characterized the official launch of the Global Peace Building Network, the presentation of its banner and its logo and the acting of the Global Peace pleed, in which the participants reiterated their dedication to love, dialogue and reconciliation.
Government representatives, traditional leaders and international partners have delivered messages of good will, praising the timely initiative, of great impact and noble.
Voices for peace
Speaking with journalists after the event, dr. Anael expressed joy for the result, describing it as “a significant step towards sustainable peace in imo and throughout Nigeria”.
He said:
Peace is more precious than money. We have chosen to promote peace in Africa, Nigeria and IMO State. Already GPBNET is working with the government at all levels to guarantee sustainability. “
Adding his voice, Amb. Dr. Conlet Osinachi Osuji, facilitator and peace supporter, underlined the need for collective responsibility:
We cannot continue to blame leaders without first showing peace in our individual lives. Everyone must ask: am I doing enough to promote peace in my environment? “
He also invited government agencies and security bodies to collaborate with GPBNET in the construction of lasting peace throughout Nigeria.
A sensational success
The inauguration ended with cultural shows, music and poetry, leaving the participants inspired and united in the peace mission. Many have described the event as a new defense of Peace Dawn for peace in the state of imo and beyond.
