The Labor Party moves to expel Peter Obi, Umbo, Kingbe on ADC Coalition Alliance

The Labor Party should expel its 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and a prominent figures of the party including Senator Victor Umeh and Senator Ireti Kingbe for their alleged alliance with the new coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

This was disclosed by the secretary of the national publicity of the party, dr. Abayomi Arabambi, during a printing print held on Friday in Abokuta, in the state of Ogun.

Arabambi said that the National Party Executive Committee (NEC) will meet next Tuesday, with the expulsion of the trio that is part of the agenda. He described their actions as a “clear anti-play conduct” and a betrayal of the party collective interest.

“Peter Obi cannot remain in the Labor Party in the name while his spirit, strategy and alignment are based with the Adc coalition. His pretense of loyalty to LP is deceived,” Arabambi said.

He also accused Obi of abandoning the party that provided him with a national platform in 2023, adding that the party had now opened his presidential ticket in view of the general elections of 2027.

Platform Times recalls that OBI recently announced his participation in the coalition led by ADC, which aims to dissipate the current administration in 2027. Despite his new political affiliations, Obi insisted on the fact that a member of the Labor Party remains and intends to apply for the President.

But Arabambi insisted that Obi’s political position is unsustainable.

“He is trying to ride two horses simultaneously. You cannot be part of a new coalition and still claim the belonging to LP,” he said.

In a frightening evaluation, Arabambi described Obi as “a master of illusion” whose political brand is built on perspective rather than on substance. He claimed that Obi’s leadership was lacking in ideological clarity, accusing him of populism and economic disinformation.

“Obi’s appeal is based on media narratives carefully made than any true transformative governance track. His mandate as governor, although often romanticized, is full of contradictions,” he said.

Arabambi also said that Obi misrepresented the Nigeria debt profile during a recent interview on TV channels, accusing him of converting the data on foreign debt in Naira to inflated rates to create a false sense of crisis.

He also announced that the party had started consultations to present a new presidential supporting holder for 2027.

According to Arabambi, one of the main contenders is Oluwadare Joseph, popularly known as Fadojoe.

Describing Famers as “a visionary with unparalleled credentials”, Arabambi said that the party would no longer have entrusted its presidential ambitions to people without ideological loyalty.

“Faduri is not an aspiring token. It is a nurse with a US license, an entrepreneur and a tested leader. It includes the depth of the challenges of Nigeria and has a clear roadmap for the transformation,” he said.

Arabambi also criticized the previous political decisions of Obi, claiming that he had not condemned the separatist rhetoric from the south-east and moved in contradiction with his famous frugality by flying private jets and working in sumptuous expenses.

He also argued that the Obi campaign was missing deeply and was highly based on simplistic emotional appeals and slogans, unlike the “Pragmatic Project based on Fadojoe’s politics and pragmatic”.

While the Labor Party is preparing for a serious shrug in its leadership and strategy in view of 2027, Arabambi ended asking the Nigerians to “refuse the political theater” and support the candidates with “genuine reform credentials”.

“The time of the populist exhibition is over. Nigeria needs leaders not only competent but engaged in systemic change. The Labor party will not compromise its future for political comfort,” he said.
