The NPA automation unit gains the momentum: electronic barrier system launched in the Lagos gate
Lagos (Core reporter) The automation unit of the Nigerian authority (NPA) has gained momentum with the launch of an electronic barrier system in the port complex of Lagos. This initiative is part of the ENPA efforts to improve operational efficiency and improve traffic management within the port.
Under the guidance of the CEO Dr. Abubakar Dutsoho, the NPA has successfully implemented the installation of electronic barrier systems in all terminal access points inside the door. This initiative follows large consultations with the main parties interested aimed at addressing the persistent issue of unauthorized truck deviations, which have negatively influenced the terminal efficiency, the flow of traffic and the overall productivity of the port.
To ensure coordination and transparency seamlessly in the truck movements, the electronic barriers have been completely integrated with the ETO electronic recall system, managed by Trucks Transit Parks Ltd (TTP). This integration guarantees that only the trucks with tickets for the call emitted by ETO Valida are granted access to terminal structures, thus eliminating unauthorized items and improving the control operations of the Gate.
“We are pleased to announce that starting from Monday 1 September 2025, all terminals within the Lagos port complex will begin real -time operations using the integrated electronic barrier system,” said the NPA. This milestone represents significant progress in the push of the authority for greater automation and modernization of port infrastructures in Nigeria.
The NPA’s commitment to this initiative reflects his dedication to:
– support the ease of the federal government to make commercial agenda
– promote transparency and responsibility
– improvement of the operational efficiency of the port
– strengthen the management of truck traffic
The Nigerian authority of ports appreciates the cooperation of all interested parties during the processes that precede this development and remains committed to implementing innovative solutions that improve the provision of the service and favor a more efficient, safe and suitable port environment. This initiative strengthens the vision of the NPA to become a hub for maritime logistics and sustainable port services in Africa.
