The city of Owerri has recently recovered while the Wakawaka Sports Awards held its long-awaited first edition-and and was nothing short of memorable!
Hosted at the Elegant City Cruz Hotel, one of the best hospitality clubs of Owerri, the event celebrated individuals and organizations that have made considerable contributions to the development of sport in Nigeria. And to lead the accusation they were prominent members of the association of the owners of the State Club of the Soul, who really stole the spotlight.

It was a proud moment for the Owners Association Club since four of their members were honored with prestigious prizes:

These awards are a testimony of their tireless efforts in promoting sport both in terms of basic and professional level.
Honor legends and heroes not celebrated
One of the most touching moments of the night was the award for the special recognition awarded to the veteran journalist Elder Theodor Tasie. Known for his profoundly rooted commitment for sports relationships, his award was a heartfelt in the vital role that journalism plays in modeling the sports industry.
Another emotional culminating point was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. Sylvester “Bahama” oparancia, which fought the disease. The crowd gave a hot ovation while receiving its prize together with Mr. Henry Orji, who was a support pillar during his health trip.
Big names, bigger results
The prizes attracted dignitaries and sports leaders from all over the country. Engr. Musa Kida, president of Nigeria Basketball Federation, was represented by Mr. Kelechi Anosike, while Dr. Martins Osundu, president of the Badagry Football Council, was available to receive its prize for the best president of the Football Local Government association.
Andrew Ekejiubba, head of the media, GTI, received the Sports Achieveg prize, while Cope & Live Foundation / Ebere Amraiizu was honored with the Sports Foundation Award.
