The president of the NSC commits the support of Nigeria to Rugby League

Abuja (basic reporter) The president of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, assured the High Australian Commissioner in Nigeria, his Excellency Leilani Bin-Jua (PSM), of the support of the Commission for the Rugby match in Nigeria. He said that the Rugby League has the potential to advance the sports economy and trigger talents that would increase the search for the nation to be a global market for sports talents.

The High Australian Commissioner was in the company of a delegation from the Rugby League on a mission to invest in the development of the rugby League in Africa, with Nigeria as Hub. Dikko said: “We are here to provide the qualifying factors and opportunities for every sport to thrive in the context of its comparative advantage. We have clearly identified the rugby League as a sport with a huge potential to guide mass participation over the whole base and the sport ecosystem in this country.”

Dikko expressed the commission’s commitment to collaborate with the promoters of the Rugby League in Nigeria to bring sport to the next level. “We believe we can collect many talents in rugby that can be developed to win the Laurel and equally be able to play in any league in the world,” he added.

The President of the NSC also highlighted the efforts of the Commission to revive school sports in Nigeria in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education. “We will see how we can inculcate sport at the basic level at a young age from schools. In this way, the rugby League will be built in the hearts and minds of our young people.”

Dikko reiterated the commitment of the Commission for the aggressive development of talents in all sports through international sports tournaments. “We are for every sport. Only this year, so far we have supported and allowed over 47 sports to international tournaments, and only three have returned without winning anything. This is a clear validation that something is happening well and a path to develop our sports and sporting talents.”

The president of the NSC has supported the sporting collaborations between Nigeria and Australia, stating: “Australia is the number one in the rugby League. We will be happy to work with the High Australian Commission to create sporting collaborations between the two countries. There are a lot together through sport and up to this purpose, at this purpose, we will organize a working group to ensure that we are quickly activating this potential for everyone for the parties.”

Previously, the Australian high commissioner echoed the immense benefits of a sporting collaboration with Nigeria. “Australia is a country lover of sport and the rugby championship is dominating. We would like to collaborate with Nigeria in sports in general and the Rugby League in particular. Sport is a tool for social inclusion and reingnerary, and we would like to draw on all the opportunities available to deepen diplomatic relationships with Nigeria.”

The general manager of Nigeria Rugby League, Isah Saulawa, underlined the importance of improving reports in Nigeria and Australian through the rugby League. “The rugby championship is the largest sport in Australia. In our strategic plan, we aim to fill the gap of diplomacy through sport. We, as a leading corpus of the rugby League in Nigeria, would like to bring together the hands of both governments in a handshake.”
