The Progressive Club forum of the Nationwide League One Progressive Clubs held an online meeting on Wednesday 16 July 2025, bringing together representatives of various NLO clubs to discuss key issues concerning the Nigerian League and football.
During the meeting, the presidents of the progressive club fully examined the current state of the Nationwide League One, highlighting the challenges, sharing the best practices and proposing solutions to guide growth and development.
Following large discussions, the club presidents resolved to:
1. Support the format of the Stadium Center League for the 2025/2026 season.
2 This will help solve the problems encountered in the past seasons.
3. Divide the playoff of promotion into 8 areas (4 south and 4 to the north), with regions defined as follows:
– North Central: Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau and FCT
– North East: Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yoube
– North West: Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara
– South -est: Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo
– South South: Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo and Rivers
– South West: Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo
– Two additional areas based on the population (one from the north and one from the south)

The forum of the presidents of the progressive club of the NLO reiterated its commitment to promote and develop Nigerian football, guaranteeing a more competitive, sustainable and successful league. The forum does not wait to work with the interested parties to implement resolutions and guide growth and development in Nigerian football.
