The Senate confirmed Thompson Sunday as NDIC MD

The Senate on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Thompson Sunday as Director of Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC).

The upper legislative room also confirmed Dr. Kabir Katata as Director of the Agency Executive.

This duo confirmation follows the consideration and adoption of the Report of the Banking, Insurance and other financial institutions in the plenary, presented by its chairman, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru.

Abiru, in his presentation, said the committee, at the end of the nomination playback, noted that the appointment was in accordance with the provisions of the NDIC 2023 law.

He said the nomination performance during the screening was an indication of their qualifications and compatibility for the appointment as the Director of Implementing and Executive Director of NDIC, each.

According to him, the nominations have expertise, knowledge, and professional experience to be appointed to the position.

The chairman noted that no petition was accepted against their nomination, saying that they had been cleaned by the Security Services Department (DSS).

The Vice President of the Senate, Barau Jubrin, who led the plenary, praised the committee for film screening.

He said the nomination confirmation would produce the right NDIC council structure.
