The suspicious armed thieves attached Radio Nigeria Prime 101.5fm, located in Jimgbe, in the state of Kogi, transporting transmission transmission assessed to millions of Naira.
The Audace operation occurred in the early hours of Saturday and lasted for over three hours without any response or interception by the safety agents in the area.
Confirming the accident to journalists, the general manager of the station, Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, expressed deep concern for the attack, which forced the disagreement station.
“This is a serious blow for our operations. We are currently broadcast because our Vitali transmission equipment have been stolen. The criminals have linked our security guard before proceeding with their operations. Where do we go from here?” He complained.
Adaiza urged the security agencies to intensify the efforts to trace the authors and deliver them to justice. He also confirmed that the zonal director of the station had been informed of the accident.
“I appeal to the authorities and parties concerned to come to our aid so that you can resume the operations and continue to serve the public,” he added.
By narrating his ordeal, the security guard on duty, Mr. Daniel Haruna, revealed that the thieves were heavily armed and managed with dangerous weapons including guns and cutlets.
“There were more than ten.
“I couldn’t cry to ask for help because I was completely defenseless. They sacked the clubs for over three hours. It was a terrifying experience that I would never have imagined that I would cross.”
According to reports, the stolen items include copper components of the power lines, 22 pieces of transmission modules, armored cables, generator batteries and other essential transmission infrastructures.
In addition to the theft, the vast destruction imposed on the structures of the station has raised serious concerns between the staff and the interested parties.
The accident is the last of a series of security challenges for media institutions and critical infrastructures across the country.
