The temporal accident affects 132kv Otukpo – NSUKKA – New Haven Transmission Line – TCN

Abuja (Core reporter) The Nigeria transmission company (TCN) announced that the temporal accident occurred late in September 3, 2025, hit the Otukpo-NSukka-New Haven transmission line.

The GM, public affairs, Ndidi Mbah explained that the cut conductor fell to the ground near the Torre 97 along the way. Although there was no loss of human life, the high voltage exhaust from the conductor who fell unfortunately set fire to a house built under the transmission line, near the tower, burned a car parked under the transmission line to the right and killed two cows along the way.

He also explained that immediately after the accident, the regional director of TCN, the Enugu region, Eng. Tom Inugonum and his team visited the accident site for an evaluation of the accident. The maintenance team of the TCN rapid response line has also been distributed on the site and since then it has started to dismantle the damaged section of the line in preparation to retain a new conductor.

According to Mbah, “despite the interruption, there has been no load loss in the NSUKKA area, which is normally provided through the transmission line concerned. Tcn has implemented an alternative temporary arrangement of alternative power supply by deviating electricity in bulk through the NSUKKA axis.

“Tcn appreciates that no human victims occurred following the accident. However, this acts as a clear reminder of the critical need to avoid building, park or engage in any activity within the right of passage of the transmission lines (line). The company stresses that these invasions are extremely dangerous and will lay serious risks for lives and ownership.

“We urge the public to always respect the integrity of power infrastructures and respect the guidelines for safety around the transmission structures. The TCN is committed to maintaining a stable and safe national network while guaranteeing public safety.”
