The Nigerian army, 12 Brigade, Lokoja, had killed a representative of the Bandit Commander in the state of Kogi, Babangida Kachala.
Brigade spokesman, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said in a statement on Saturday that Kachala was killed on Thursday.
He said: “In a courageous operation on September 11, 2025, the troops neutralized Babangida Kachala, a famous bandit and the second commander to Kachala Bala Shuibu, the leader of the bandit group operating in the state.
“The operation began with credible intelligence about the movement of bandits in the forest and the general area of Ayeetoro Gbeede, in the regional government of Ijumuu.
“This encourages joint forces to put an ambush at the suspected bandit intersection point.
“Although the initial contact was not carried out, the troops experienced an ambush staged by the bandits while withdrawing to the base.

“In the next firing standard, troops involved bandits with superior firing power, neutralizing one of the criminals.
“During the operation, the troops found several items, including: a full -charged magazine, 31 cellphones, blood pressure machine, Tramadol tablet package, Amulet Enchantment, and N16,000 cash.
“The troops observed blood stains at the scene, showing that several other bandits fled with gunshot wounds.
“The next intelligence confirmed that Babangida Kachala was among those who fled with a gunshot wound and then confirmed to die.”
