The USPF secretary Applaude Itu, UK-FCDO partnership on Nigerian rural connectivity

The secretary of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Yomi Arowosafe, praised the International Union of Telecommunications (ITU) and the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (UK FCDO), for their collaboration with their collaboration Nigeria

ARowosafe gave praise to a session of involvement of the interested parties focused on the sector, organized in Lagos on the weekend by the USPF in collaboration with the United Kingdom FCdo and the Itu. The session was built on the efforts under the USPF to facilitate the achievement of a large coverage of network connectivity in the communities not served and undergoing Nigeria.

The event was attended by the Hon. Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Communications, innovations and the digital economy, Faruk Yobo; the executive vice -president of the Nigerian communications commission, Dr. Aminu Maida; The managers of telecommunications companies, commissioners of the state Tic, important actors in the sector, trade associations, development partners, key speakers, distinct guests and staff of both NCC and USPF.

The minister spoke of the commitment of President Bola Tinubu to provide directions and enabling political initiatives to guarantee greater connectivity in Nigeria to transform the socio-economic development of Nigeria, while the head of the NCC, Mada underlined the resolution of the Commission, to support federal governments that support the priorities of the federal areas. Speaking to the event, Arowosafe said that the commitment reflects the shared vision of the USPF and the commitment in the expansion of inclusive connectivity and that the presence of all the other parties interested in the event underlined the vital role of collaboration in achieving the goal.

He said that the theme of this seminar, “promote connectivity in the community not served and undergoing: collaborating on sustainable growth”, highlighted the government’s dedication to fill the digital gap, in line with the strategic focus areas of the NCC, the strategic areas of the Ministry and the presidential priority areas.

β€œTogether, we have the power to create sustainable and inclusive paths to ensure that no community is left behind. The achievement of this requires strong partnerships between government, private sector, non -governmental organizations (NGO), development partners and community leaders. By sharing insights and resources, we can design tailor -made solutions that face both immediate and long -term connectivity challenges, “he said.

The Uspf secretary said that before the session, the USPF collected inputs from the interested parties through questionnaires.

He said that the responses obtained have modeled panel discussions, focused on key strategies to encourage connectivity through collaboration and partnerships, strengthening the development and safety of skills and exploring innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable connectivity.

He said that the commitment, therefore, offered a platform for a robust dialogue and practical solutions that face our unique challenges and contribute to improving access to telecommunications in the underground regions, while encouraging the participants to participate actively, share their skills and help to model the results that will strengthen the digital ecosystem of the nation and improve the life of all the Nigerians.
