President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of Muhammad Babangida, son of the former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, as the new president of the Agriculture Bank.
The appointment was announced on Friday in a declaration signed by the Special Consultant of the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Muhammad Babangida, 53 years old, obtained a degree in Business Economics and a Master in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from the European University, Montreux, Switzerland.
He also attended Corporate Governance executive program at the Harvard Business School in 2002.
His father, Ibrahim Babangida, was military president of Nigeria from August 1985 to August 1993.
According to the declaration, President Tinubu also approved the appointment of seven other people as president and chiefs of federal agencies.
Lydia Kalat Musa from the state of Kaduna has been appointed president of the authority for the free areas of oil and gas (Ogfza), while Jamilu Wada Aliyu by the State of Kano has been appointed president of the National Educational Research and Development Council (Nerdc).
Also from the state of Kano, Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa has been appointed president of the organization of the Nigeria standards (son), while Sanusi Musa (San), also of Kano, has been appointed president of the Institute for Peace and the resolution of conflicts (IPCR).
In addition, Prof. Al-Mustapha Alhaji Aliyu by Sokoto State was appointed general manager of the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA) and Sanusi Garba Rikiji by the State of Zamfara has been appointed general manager of the Nigerian office for commercial negotiations (Notn).
Mrs. Tomi Somefun of the state of Oyo was appointed CEO of the National Hydroelectric Power areas Development Commission (Hyppadec), while dr. Abdulmumini Mohammed Aminu-Zaria by the State of Kaduna has been appointed executive director of the Commission for Nigerian water resources (NiWrmc).
The presidency stated that the appointments are part of the push of Tinubu to reposition the strategic institutions for a better supply of services in line with the renewed agenda of his administration.
