President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred posthumous national honors of the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) to the deceased Shehu Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
The president who announced him in his speech on democracy, also conferred a posthumous honor of the commander of the Federal Republic (cf.) on Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, widow of the late Mko Abiola.
Others who have obtained posthumous national honors include head Bola Ige (cf.); Profr Humphrey Nwosu (con); Dr Beko Ransome Kuti, with; Ken Saro-Wiwa (with) e His companions activists Ogoni: Saturday Dobee, Nordu Eowo, Daniel Gbooko, Paul Levera, Felix Nuate, Baribor Bera, Barinem Kiobel and John Kpuine.

Each were honored with the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON).
The president exercised the prerogative of mercy to grant all nine men a full and unconditional forgiveness.
“I will also exempted my powers under the prerogative of Mercy to grant these national heroes a forgiveness, together with others whose names will be announced later in collaboration with the National State Council,” said Tinubu.
