Tinubu told Nigerians in Saint Lucia: ‘We have saved the economy from the collapse’

The Tinubu Ball President has convinced the Nigerians who live in Saint Lucia that his government has stabilized the Nigerian economy, whom he described was on the verge of destruction when he served.

Speaking during interactive sessions with members of the Nigerian community on Wednesday at Windjammer Resort in Castries, Tinubu highlighted the scope of economic challenges inherited by his government and the reforms applied to restore investor confidence and macroeconomic stability.

“We inherited the country that approached bankruptcy,” said Tinubu. “But we have been able to save the economy. Nigeria has recovered. We have made our oil smuggling unattractive. We have stopped chasing forex paper at the Nigerian central bank.”

The statement was contained in a statement released on Thursday by a special advisor to the President of Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

While acknowledging that Nigerian per capita income remains low, the President stated optimism about the future of the country, referring to the ongoing reform aimed at encouraging inclusive growth and long -term stability.

Overcoming Nigeria Diaspora, Tinubu said, “For professionals who live here, our government will not leave you. But you have to work hard. It is our job to help you succeed.”

The meeting, attended by professionals, students, and religious leaders of Nigeria, was the second involvement between Tinubu and the Diaspora community in Saint Lucia. The first was held on Tuesday night at the official residence of Prime Minister Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre.

The sessions were held by Nigeria at the Diaspora Commission (Nidcom), chaired by Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who praised the contribution of the Nigerians who lived in Saint Lucia and encouraged them to continue to foster strong connections with their homeland.

“Nigeria is proud of what you contribute to Saint Lucia,” Dabiri-Erewa said, praising Tinubu for taking the time to be directly involved with the Diaspora community.
