Troops arrest alleged Boko Haram collaborator in Borno and intercept supplies to son suspected of terrorism

Operation Hadin Kai troops have arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected of collaborating with Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, in a new breakthrough against the insurgency’s logistical networks.

The suspect, identified as Kellu Abba, a resident of Lawanti area of Baga town, was intercepted at a military checkpoint in Kukawa local government area on Wednesday morning while allegedly attempting to transport supplies to a known insurgent hideout.

Security sources said the woman was arrested around 8am after troops became suspicious of her movement along a route linked to terrorist activities in the region.

He was reportedly on his way to deliver items to his son, identified as Modu Mustapha, believed to be a terrorist operating in the general area of Dumba, a known hotspot for insurgent elements.

According to counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources, the suspect was found in possession of several items believed to be intended for use by hidden fighters.

The recovered items included four packs of ready-to-use supplementary food, two hijabs and a wristwatch.

Military authorities said the arrest underlines ongoing efforts to dismantle support networks that underpin rebel operations in remote communities in the northeast.

The suspect is currently in custody at the 196th Amphibious Battalion for further questioning and possible prosecution.

While military sources say the theater of operations remains relatively calm, they warned that the security environment is still fluid, with troops supporting aggressive patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations in vulnerable locations.

Operation Hadin Kai has carried out continuous counter-terrorism offensives in Borno and surrounding states, targeting Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) cells through coordinated ground and air operations aimed at degrading their logistics and mobility networks.
