United States President Donald Trump emphasized that American military operations were instrumental in stopping the widespread killing of Christians in Nigeria, and said that America’s decisive action significantly weakened those behind the violence.
Trump made the remarks Friday at an event in Washington, where he highlighted his administration’s security initiatives and counterterrorism operations in various parts of the world.
Speaking about the situation in Nigeria, the US President claimed that American troops intervened at a critical time when the Christian community was facing persistent attacks, especially in the region hit by insurgency and extremist violence.
He said: “As you know, we recently invaded Nigeria and ended a massive massacre of the Christian population.”
Trump painted a grim picture of the violence that preceded what he called the US intervention, alleging that thousands of Christians, including vulnerable members of society, had been killed in brutal attacks.
According to him: “They had a large Christian population. They were massacred, massacred by the thousands, children, women, old people, massacred, hacked to death.”
The US President further claimed that the military operation dealt a major blow to the perpetrators by eliminating key figures in their leadership, thereby reducing their capacity to continue attacks.

He said: “They knew that if they went any further, the attack would be much bigger and they didn’t want to get too involved anymore. We hit them very hard. We took out their leader. We got rid of their second leader and their third leader.”
Trump did not identify the specific groups targeted by the operation or provide details on when the alleged military action occurred. Likewise, he provided no evidence to support his claim that the intervention had effectively ended the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
