UPM Felicita traditional worshipers, cultural ambassadors on 2025

The United Premier Movement (UPM) congratulated the traditional religious worshipers and cultural ambassadors of Yorubaland and Egbaland while preparing to mark on the day of 2025 on Wednesday 20 August.

In a message of goodwill signed by its call, the Hon. (Cape) Olalekan Shoyinka, popularly known as Ayinla Egba, the movement described the day of Isese as more than a festival, observing that represents the spirituality, resilience and identity of the Yoruba people.

According to Shoyinka, the annual celebration serves as a memory of the rich cultural values of the Yoruba nation and offers an opportunity for thanks and reflection.

“The day of Isese is a sacred reminder of spirituality, resilience and identity that unites us like Yoruba. It is a time to honor the òrìuary, support the wisdom of our ancestors and renew our collective commitment in supporting the traditions that give us the pride of the place among the nations of the world”, the note in part.

He praised the traditional religious leaders and cultural custodians for their dedication to preserve the Yoruba inheritance despite the pressure of modern influences, underlining that their efforts have assured that “” “the agbà – the tradition is supreme – remains uninterrupted and vibrant”.

Shoyinka also prayed for peace, unity and prosperity for Yorubaland and the entire nation while the devotees undertake the annual spiritual journey towards Oke-Bola.

The UPM, a socio-political and cultural group, also reiterated its solidarity with Yoruba’s sons and daughters engaged in cultural conservation, at the same time underlining its determination to pursue political, social and economic renewal throughout the region.

“May the spirit of our ancestors bless this generation and those still not yet born,” added Shoyinka.
