The United States has released photos and names of 124 Nigerians it says will be deported from the country for what it calls “the worst of the worst” criminal acts.

This was revealed in a statement on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) website on Wednesday, and featured an updated list of deportations.

DHS also said the people had been placed on a criminal list, and explained that the deportations were part of ongoing immigration enforcement, emphasizing that those listed had been convicted of serious crimes, but declined to provide details about when the deportations would take place.

The statement read, “The US Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst foreign criminals apprehended by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Under DHS leadership, hardworking DHS and ICE fulfilled President Trump’s promises and carried out mass deportations – starting with the worst of the worst – including the illegal aliens you see here.”

This latest action is part of the immigration law enforcement actions implemented by US President Donald Trump’s administration after he returned to office on January 20, 2025.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the crackdown, saying the administration remains committed to enforcing immigration laws and removing undocumented immigrants with criminal records in line with President Trump’s immigration agenda.

Nigeria is increasingly under scrutiny from the Trump administration. In June, Washington imposed partial visa restrictions on Nigerian citizens, citing concerns over identity management, information sharing, visa overstay rates, and security checks.
