Von will host the engagement forum of the first national security citizens

The voice of Nigeria (Von) will host the first forum of involvement of national citizens on security, an innovative initiative aimed at strengthening the collaboration and trust between the Nigerian public and the country’s security institutions.

The forum, which aligns with the renewed agenda of the hope of its excellence, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will act as a national platform for dialogue. He will bring together the interested parties of the security sector, civil society, academic world, youth communities, media and traditional and religious institutions. The event aims to encourage inclusive conversations on the fundamental role of citizens in promoting national security and the construction of peace.

Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, Mnipr, general manager and CEO of The Voice of Nigeria, will deliver the opening observations. The honorable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, FNIPR, will act as the main guest and will deliver the opening address. The National Security Councilor, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, MNI, will preside over the opportunity, while the head of the defense staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, ofr, will participate as a special guest of honor.

The high -level forum will present two panel sessions. The first, entitled “Bridging the Gap: improvement of citizens’ trust in security institutions”, will explore the relationship between citizens and the security architecture of Nigeria. The second session, “from awareness to action: civic responsibility in times of crisis”, will highlight the roles of civil society, educational institutions and the leaders of the community in supporting national security. Both sessions will include interactive presentations and feedback opportunities for participants.

All security agencies should actively participate in the forum, including the leader of the civil-military relations of the Nigerian armed forces, the Nigerian police forces, paramilitary agencies and other related institutions. Civil society organizations will also be well represented, guaranteeing a broad and inclusive commitment.

The event will also include a feedback session of active citizens and will culminate in the release of a post-event press release aimed at guiding the future collaboration between the parties concerned in all sectors.

This commitment strengthens the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and represents a significant step towards institutionalizing the approaches centered on citizens to national security, deepen the awareness of the public and advance inclusive governance in Nigeria.
