We are committed to authentic and transparent reconciliation – PDP National Chairman

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed on Monday reiterated the party’s commitment to genuine and transparent reconciliation between aggrieved party members.

This came after Mohammed, who belonged to FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, emerged at a national convention held in Abuja a few weeks ago.

The new helmsman of the party made the remarks at the 87th meeting of the party’s Board of Governors (BoT) held in Abuja.

He hinted that the party is already reaching out to every aggrieved member in all wards and zones, stressing: “We don’t just want people back into the fold; we want them back with a sense of belonging and a shared purpose.”

The party’s strength, Mohammed underlined, has always been its numbers, but its power lies in unity.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand, and as we look towards the horizon, we must move as one force. Let us put aside personal grievances for the collective survival and success of our Great Party.

“Politics is a game of interests, but we must never let those interests prevail over our mission. The National Working Committee is committed to a genuine and transparent reconciliation process. We are reaching out to every aggrieved member in all departments and in all zones. We don’t just want people back into the fold; we want them back with a sense of belonging and a shared purpose.

“Unity without discipline is only a temporary respite. To remain a viable alternative for the people, we must uphold the sanctity of our constitution.

“Loyalty to party decisions is non-negotiable,” he said.

Regarding the channeling of internal complaints, the National President warned that this must happen through the competent constitutional bodies and not through the pages of newspapers.

According to him, preparation for 2027 must be clinical and data-based so that the party’s presence is felt at every polling station.

“We are not just preparing to compete; we are preparing to lead. We leave this room with a renewed spirit of sacrifice and a commitment to victory,” Mohammed said.

During his opening speech, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Chairman of the Party’s Board of Trustees, congratulated everyone on the success of our 2026 National Convention.

He described the event not only as a decisive moment for the party, but also as a clear demonstration that the People’s Democratic Party remains resilient, organized and capable of self-renewal.

He expressed satisfaction that, against all odds, members were able to come together as one family, debate, deliberate and ultimately make decisions that repositioned the party for the future.

“For this, I congratulate the leadership, organizers and all members of our great Party for their discipline, commitment and faith in the PDP.

“The significance of that Convention cannot be overstated. It restored confidence within our ranks and sent a strong message to Nigerians that the PDP is back, stronger, more united and ready to play its historic role in the democratic development of our country.

“However, as we celebrate this success, we must also recognize that the work ahead is even more critical.

“As the Board of Directors, we occupy a unique and sacred position in the life of this Party. We are the conscience of the Party; the custodians of its values, its integrity and its long-term vision. Our role is not to compete with other bodies, but to guide, advise and stabilize,” said the BoT Chairman,
