The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the requests of resident doctors who have been on strike since September 15, for unpaid backgrounds.
Wike made it known on Friday while inaugurating the construction of the Northern Parkway from Ring Road II to Ring III on Shehu Yar’adua Way to Abuja.
He also praised the doctors for canceling the strike in the interest of patients and the territory.
“All files containing the requests in my table were duly signed.
“I have to praise the resident doctors for expressing the strike, the administration is happy with their understanding,” he said
Wike also directed the head of the FCT service with the special consultant for the administration, Samuel Aang, to act accordingly.
Speaking in the road project, he said that he would create more work, will facilitate traffic in the city and improve economic activities.
Freedomonline recalled that the doctors had taken strikes their requests at home after months of unresolved negotiations with the FCTA.
Doctors ask for the payment of wage backgrounds ranging from one to six months, due to the members employed by 2023.
They also want the immediate recruitment of the new staff, the regulation of the training fund for the medical residence of 2025 and the payment of the arrears deriving from the upward revision of 25/35 percent of the consolidated medical salary structure.
In addition, they are asking for clear timing to complete the jumping and conversion processes for all members, among others.
