Wild dogs tame super eagles in Bissau

Guinea-Bissau shocked Nigeria with a convincing 3-0 victory over the Super Eagles in their second Group L match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Bissau.

The hosts took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to Franculino Dju, who took advantage of an opportunity to put Guinea-Bissau ahead.

Nigeria struggled to find a response as the Djurtus maintained their lead in the second half.

Guinea-Bissau doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Balde found the back of the net, leaving the Super Eagles with the difficult task of salvaging the result.

Nigeria’s hopes of a comeback were further dashed as Guinea-Bissau continued to control the match, before Djalo completed the rout with a third injury-time goal in the 95th minute.

The 3-0 defeat represents a major setback for the Super Eagles in their bid to qualify for AFCON 2027 and leaves Nigeria facing increased pressure ahead of their next Group L match.
