Exactly 11 months after the defense staff Chief of Staff, Major General Chris Musa, vowed to end the terror government by the Bandit Kingpin, Bello Turji, the famous terrorist reportedly had begun the process of peace initiatives after he handed over some of the weapons and released 32 kidnapped victims.
According to one of the scholars involved, Alfa Musa Yusuf, known as Asadus-Sunnah, was allegedly facilitated by Islamic scholars in the state of Zamfara.
Reportedly produced results after a series of meetings they held in July with Turji and other famous fighters in the Forest Forest, in the Shinkafi Regional Government in the state.
Asadus-Sunnah who revealed this during a religious meeting in Kaduna on Monday, said they could convince the feared terrorists and some of their colleagues to bring down their weapons because it would open the way for the peace talks they wanted with the government.
“It’s not an easy journey, we have to cross the river without a canoe, and travel long distances in the forest with a bicycle before we reach Turji’s pockets,” said Asadus-Sunnah during college.
He noted that the meeting was held on three separate occasions in July and facilitated at the request of the Shinkafi population, which had been under the siege of armed bandits for years.
“We met Bello Turji, and Bakkolo, Black and Kanawa, and Ila Night. Contrary to speculation, and Bakkolo was still alive and present during the meeting,” the ulama said.
He added that the dialogue was part of the peace initiative led by the grassroots which aimed at restoring stability in the area where the bandits reportedly agreed to the main proposal during the conversation, including the handover of weapons and the release of hostages.
“In three phases, they handed over several weapons to show their commitment to the peace process. They also agreed to allow farmers from Shinkafi to access their agricultural land across the river that leads to Turji’s pockets,” Sheikh Yusuf said.
Asadus-Sunnah revealed that 32 victims who kidnapped, most women and children, were released by Turji as part of the initial peace movement, emphasized that some victims had spent more than four months in captivity, with reports of women giving birth in bushes and others suffered unity such as snake bites.
However, the ulama called for the attention of the government and security institutions about calling for the total launching of the Turji group at this stage, citing the fears of the possibility of attacks from rival factions that were contrary to the peace process.
“We have involved Turji gradually towards total peace. It is not wise to ask him to surrender all his weapons now, because it can explain it to other armed groups that may not be part of peaceful conversation,” he explained.
He suggested fellow scholars to refrain from being involved in public verbal attacks on Turji, warning that such actions could thwart the fragile peace process, while also praising Ball President Ahmed Tinubu, National Security Advisor, Nuhu thousand, Governor Dauda Lawal from the state of Zamfara, and Senator Shehu Buba to support non-extension in non-cinetic, and Senator Shehu Buba to support income Non-kinetic in the establishment of non-non-processis in kinetics.
Tourji’s new attitude about negotiations for peace will come almost a year after Moses boasts that the Nigerian army under his supervision, will capture or neutralize the deadly bandit leader and end the terror government that killed him.
CDS, during the press conference in Abuja on September 10, 2024, swear that it was only a matter of time before the fear of the bandits he described as crazy would meet his waterloo.
When giving a speech at a press conference, Moses had described Turji as a crazy terrorist whose terror government would soon end.
“About Turji’s problem, he is just a crazy person who feels strength, but I can bet you that it is only a matter of time.
“This is a matter of time; we will get it, and I can convince you that it will be in the shortest possible time,” the head of the army has promised.
At another meeting, Moses again said:
“This is a matter of time, we will get it (Bello), and I can convince you that it will be in the shortest possible time. We will discuss the problem about the issue of payment of retribution to bandits. That is what they live. And that shows you described where they are.”
However, for months after boasting, Turji has not been captured or eliminated despite most of his top commanders, foot soldiers, including his son and his cousin, Yellow and Bokolo, have been killed, a situation that according to security analysts might encourage Turji to seek soft landing.
Two months ago, the famous bandit changed his strong arm tactics and the attitude of Braggadocios by subtly reaching the authorities to propose a peaceful agreement.
