X cracks down on war content created by AI and warns against creating misleading footage

X has announced it will suspend content creators from its monetization program if they post AI-generated videos depicting armed conflict without clearly disclosing that the content was created using artificial intelligence.

The company said enforcement will rely on a combination of automated tools designed to detect generative AI content and its crowdsourced fact-checking system, Community Notes. Posts identified as undisclosed synthetic media and depicting armed conflict may trigger penalties related specifically to monetization eligibility.

The Creator X Revenue Share Program allows eligible users to earn from advertising revenue generated from engagement on their posts. This initiative, introduced to incentivize high-performing content and compete with other creator-based platforms, has become a key feature of X’s monetization strategy under owner Elon Musk.
