Zulum condemns the recent accidents of Boko Haram/Iswap, sympathizes with the victims of attacks

The Governor of the State of Borno, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, strongly condemned the recent wave of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP in various parts of the state, including Maiduguri-Damboa Road, Mars, Chibok, Gwoza, Kala Balge and other affected communities.

Governor Zulum expressed his sincere syncer for families of all the victims affected by tragic accidents, which included an improvised explosive device attack (IED) along the Maiduguri-Damboa road.

The explosion, which took place on Monday 12 May, caused the life of two members of the staff of the Local Educational Authority of Damboa who were on a course towards Maiduguri to sit for the examination of the Registration Council of Nigeria teachers (TRCN). Several members of the armed forces and innocent civilians have also lost their lives in the recent wave of violence.

In a declaration of his spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, the governor reiterated the unshakable commitment of the state government to work closely with the federal government, the military and other security agencies to contain the challenges to security.

“These acts of terror are deeply condemned. The recent tragic loss of our educational staff, innocent gallant troops and civilians is a painful reminder of the challenges that we continue to face,” said Governor Zulum.

He added: “I am more determined than ever to support military, security agencies and our voluntary forces in the struggle to end terrorism and insurrection in our state”.

Governor Zulum recalled his recent visit to Gwoza, where he worked with military personnel and the community of Izge, as part of the current efforts to strengthen resilience and guarantee the protection of lives and properties.

“The recent increase in attacks will not discourage our determination to face the scourge of the 16-year insurrection. I urge the people of Borno to remain resistant and prayer. This is a partial eclipse-and we will exceed it, Insha Allah”, assured the governor.

Governor Zulum concluded by extending his thoughts and prayers to the families of the fallen heroes, to innocent civilians and all the citizens of the State of Borno during this difficult period.
