162 Anniversary: ​​the army undertakes to defend the sovereignty of Nigeria, democracy

The head of the army staff, Lieutenant Gen. Olufemi Oluyed, reiterated the army’s commitment to defend the territorial integrity and democracy of Nigeria.

Represented by the Head of Civil Military Affairs, Army (CCMA), the main general Gold Chibuisi, Olyede, said this Wednesday during a press briefing to announce the 162 anniversary of the Nigerian army.

The theme of this year’s celebration is “to develop the first concept of Soldier: imperative for the transformation of the Nigerian army”.

He said: “In recent times, our nation has had to deal with the enemies of peace and the agents of the chaos that led terrorism to our borders and caused a plethora of internal security problems.

“Nonetheless, the Nigerian army has risen to the occasion to deny these terrorists the opportunity to interrupt our socio-cultural heritage, or spread the holiness of our sovereignty.

“In this sense, the Nigerian army will not give in to its efforts to guarantee the safety of the Nigerian people and the perpetuity of our democracy.”

Oloyede said that the celebration of the Nigerian army day offers the opportunity to show the results so far and deepen the collaboration with various parties interested in improving the peace, safety and defense of Nigeria’s national values.

The head of the army observed that the theme was carefully selected as a renewed push to transform the army by positioning the soldiers before.

“The Nigerian army as an instrument of unity, integration and national development has made giant steps in innovation, Research and Development, civil-military relationships and technological progress to better equip the soldier to carry out his constitutional responsibilities,” he said.

Oloyede has highlighted a series of activities in line for this year’s celebration.
“Since then we have started with the traditional prayers of Jumat and the interdenomination church services that symbolize our humble recognition of the motto of the Nigerian army”, the victory is only from God “.

“We will put on the service of numerous civil-melting cooperation projects in different locations within the State of Kaduna, a golf tournament, a free medical awareness program and the awareness program of the wives of the wives of the Nigerian army wives. The same day, there will be visits to public involvement at secondary schools selected in all the formations of the Nigerian army.

“Saturday 5 July 2025, there will be a conference at the Nigerian Defense Academy Kaduna, to deliberate on topical issues and subsequently we will have the award ceremony for the second annual literary competition of Coas.

“On the evening of the same day, there will be a gala evening with officers and soldiers at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Conference Center Murtala Muhammed Kaduna.

“The event will be collected with the celebration of the Nigerian Army day 2025 Grand Final on July 6, 2025, where we will attend a military parade, display for equipment and the presentation of the army head for worthy staff.”
