Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed rumors of defection, reaffirming his commitment to the ruling party, declaring that he is not a nomadic politician or a vulture “flying from tree to tree” seeking personal ambition or political expediency.
The former Kano State governor has clarified posters circulating on social media as “false, malicious and politically motivated” alleging that he defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, Ganduje said the posters were designed to mislead the public, create confusion among APC faithful and generate unnecessary political speculation.
According to the statement, Ganduje remained consistent in his political beliefs and never contemplated leaving the APC, the party of which he served as the national president.
Ganduje maintained that the APC remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political party, enjoying growing acceptance across the country and consolidating its position under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The statement describes the circulation of the posters as the work of “desperate political disaster-makers” determined to tarnish Ganduje’s reputation and create unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.
He also revealed that those responsible for the production and dissemination of the false posters have been identified, warning that if they do not immediately withdraw the defamatory material and cease its further dissemination, appropriate legal action will be taken against them.
He called on APC members, supporters and the general public to ignore the posters in their entirety, insisting that they do not reflect Ganduje’s political position or intentions.
The statement reaffirmed Ganduje’s commitment to work with Tinubu and the APC leadership to consolidate the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda and further strengthen the party for future political engagements.
He further urged members of the public to rely only on official communications from Ganduje and relevant bodies of the APC on matters relating to his political activities.
