Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the state president of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Ishaku Tanko Yamawo said the ruling party will break the misfortune of always losing the seat of power to the opposition.
Responding to journalists’ questions in Abuja, during the FCT leadership presentation of the Yari Initiative 774 for Asiwaju, Yamawo said the FCT has a history of victories by the opposition during general elections but that the case will be different in 2027.
“Truly, the opposition has always managed to win the FCT in presidential elections, against the ruling party. However, the story will change in 2027. That is why the appointment of Hon. Micah Y. Jiba as the coordinator of the Yari 774 initiative for Asiwaju in the Federal Capital Territory is very strategic.
“Micah Jiba is a grassroots politician, loved by his people, having served as Executive Chairman of AMAC and also representing member of AMAC/Bwari in the House of Representatives. With his experience, he will ensure that FCT residents vote en masse for Tinubu. The APC will win the FCT for President Tinubu in 2027. The President has done so much for the development of the FCT and the nation and will be re-elected,” he said.
The convener talks about Jiba’s appointment
Speaking earlier, the Chairman/Convener of the Yari 774 initiative for Asiwaju, Chief Ibrahim Emokpaire, said the public presentation by Hon. Micah Y. Jiba as the leader of the FCT chapter of the Yari 774 initiative for Asiwaju is important to eliminate confusion, discourage misrepresentation and establish a clear channel of leadership and communication.
He said: “Today is very significant in the history of the FCT because we are here to not only strengthen its political atmosphere, but also to formally present the leadership of YARI Initiative 774 for Asiwaju in the Federal Capital Territory, under the capable hands of Hon. Micah Y. Jiba.
“I would like to state clearly today that the FCT chapter of YARI Initiative 774 for Asiwaju is under the leadership of no other person than the HON. MICAH Y. JIBA, a tried and trusted grassroots politician whose track record in the region is well known. We are presenting this leadership publicly because political movements require clarity, coordination, accountability and accountable representation.
“Today’s presentation is therefore intended to eliminate confusion, discourage misrepresentations and establish a clear leadership and communication channel.
“We call on all true supporters to work together in the interest of Party unity and the success of the movement. As experienced political leaders and stakeholders, we believe that political communication should be based on facts, observable developments and verifiable claims in the public domain.
“As we approach 2027, we are not hiding our political position. The YARI 774 initiative for Asiwaju supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC to the hilt. Our goal is to build a disciplined grassroots structure that engages communities and communicates our political message effectively, without rancour.
“Today we can confidently say that the battle line is drawn. But let us be clear about the type of battle we are talking about. We also wish to appeal to people who sincerely support the goals of YARI Initiative 774 for Asiwaju to beware of imitation.
“There is space for all those who sincerely believe in the political objectives of the initiative, but discipline, coordination and respect for recognized leadership structures are needed.
“We therefore ask anyone who holds themselves out publicly as the official FCT leader of the YARI 774 Initiative for Asiwaju to ensure that such representation is properly authorized as the leader/coordinator of the FCT chapter of the YARI 774 Initiative for Asiwaju, and that is what we are doing now.
“In conclusion, therefore, let it be known that we are ready to take our message of peace, development, unity, responsible leadership and democratic participation to every corner of the Federal Capital Territory, under the coordination of Hon. Micah Jiba.”
Jiba urges support for Tinubu’s re-election
Also speaking were the two-term Executive Chairman of AMAC and Coordinator of Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar’s 774 Campaign Initiative for President Tinubu 2027, Hon. Micah Y. Jiba, said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has invested in infrastructure and deserves to be re-elected in 2027.
He said: “I congratulate my mentor and boss, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, on his appointment as Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
“I believe this nomination is strong and strategic. Senator Yari has the experience, political understanding and national network needed to bring people together to make Project 2027 a success.
“As someone who has served as the national president of ALGON and as the executive president of AMAC, I understand the importance of the 774 local governments in Nigeria’s political and development structure.
“I have built relationships with local government leaders across the country and know that when the grassroots are properly connected, political mobilization becomes stronger and more effective.
“For me, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a sure beacon for 2027. His administration has made major investments in road infrastructure. Roads connect communities, connect states, support businesses, improve traffic and strengthen safety.
“These results provide a solid foundation for the 2027 campaign. With effective coordination, strong grassroots mobilization and the leadership of Senator Yari, I believe we can connect the 774 local governments and achieve a decisive victory for President Tinubu in 2027.
“That is why I am proud to accept my nomination as Coordinator of Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar’s Campaign Initiative 774 for President Tinubu 2027. Our message is simple: connect the grassroots, mobilize the people and achieve victory.
“I therefore call on our political leaders, local government stakeholders, youth, women and all supporters across Nigeria to join us.”
