In his race for Nigeria’s seat of power, the Allied People’s Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has chosen Ibrahim Adamu Bala as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
The National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination portal shows that Bala, 51, hails from Bauchi State, providing an opportunity for APM to expand its electoral appeal across the country.
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, played a key role in Adamu Bala’s emergence, and nominated him in consultations aimed at strengthening the party’s chances, particularly in the North East.
Bala’s appearance on the INEC portal confirmed his candidacy as APM’s vice presidential candidate, although neither the party nor Makinde has issued an official statement regarding the choice.

Makinde, who is serving his second and final term as governor of Oyo State, declared his presidential ambitions on May 14 at a joint general meeting of the PDP and APM factions at Mapo Hall, Ibadan.
The declaration follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the PDP and APM factions at the PDP South West Zone Secretariat in Ibadan.
At the rally, the governor announced that the alliance would field candidates for all elective positions, from president to state House of Representatives, while urging opposition parties to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.
On May 30, Makinde officially accepted the APM presidential candidacy in Ibadan, where he promised to “reset” Nigeria through targeted reforms to address insecurity, unemployment, hunger and the rising cost of living.
Receiving the Certificate of Return and party flag from APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantalle, the governor also promised to decentralize the country’s security architecture and give states greater authority to respond to security challenges if elected president.
