618,000 displaced interior still in the Benue fields, says Sema – Theage

618,000 internal displaced people are still in various fields throughout Benue’s state, according to the state emergency management agency, traffic lights.

The Benue State Emergency Management Agency’s Permanent Executive/Permanent Secretary/Secretary, dr. James Iorpuu, made the disclosure during the distribution of food and non -food products at various fields on Friday in Makurdi, the state capital.

He said that the monthly intervention, under the directive and the continuous support of the governor Hyacinth alia, is a testimony of the unshakable commitment of the administration against the well -being and dignity of the displaced citizens.

“While we remain grateful to God for having supported our collective efforts, I must recognize the persistence of the humanitarian challenges that we face in the state, largely due to the ongoing stock, especially in our communities to conflict and we have remained consistent in providing timely interventions,” said Iorpuu.

He announced his intention to undertake a field of IDP fields throughout the state in an attempt to strengthen the field operations, monitor the humanitarian conditions in the first person and deepen the commitment with the populations displaced in the coming weeks.

“This tour will allow me to better appreciate the conditions on the ground, the interface directly with the field officials and the IDPs and identify the areas in which immediate and long -term interventions are needed. It is only through the proximity and sincere listening that we can develop our approach to durable solutions.”

Iorapuu, who is also the permanent secretary, the Ministry of Management of catastrophes and humanitarian affairs in the State, observed that in addition to the commitments on the current field, the p.
