Minister laments looting of Kano Tech Hub by #EndBadGovernance protesters

Minister of Communications, Bosun Tijani, on Thursday, condemned the destruction of the Nigerian Communications Centre in Kano by #EndBadGovernance protesters.

The incident, which comes amid ongoing nationwide protests, has dealt a major blow to the government’s ambitious plans to develop a robust tech ecosystem in the country.

Tijani tweeted, “Saddened to hear that our Digital Innovation Park in Kano which was scheduled to be launched next week to support our 3 million technical talent (3MTT) accelerator has been burnt and looted by protesters.

“Together with #3MTT, this building will host a holiday buildathon program for secondary school children starting next week. A small setback to our journey to deepen the tech workforce while creating jobs for the youth. Millions of Naira wasted.”

Tijani’s tweet, expressing his disappointment over the loss of a facility meant to nurture young tech talent, has touched the hearts of many Nigerians. However, the minister’s statement has also raised eyebrows, with some questioning the timing and extent of the damage.

The demolition of the Kano tech hub is undoubtedly a setback for Nigeria’s tech industry. The facility was poised to be a catalyst for innovation and job creation, providing a platform for young people to develop their skills and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
