Everton’s owners The Friedkin Group (TFG) are exploring a sale of the club less than two years after taking control.
The American group completed its takeover of the club in 2024 in a deal believed to be worth more than £400m.
According to BBC Sport TFG, in a statement, he stated that after prioritizing stability, investment and the opening of Everton’s new stadium last year, the time is right to “consider the next chapter.”
“The Friedkin Group is exploring new investment options for Everton Football Club, including the possible sale of a majority stake,” TFG said.
“When TFG became Everton’s custodians, the club faced significant financial uncertainty and challenges both on and off the pitch. The immediate priority was to provide the stability, investment and support needed to secure the club’s future, including helping to complete the long-promised stadium for its deserving supporters.
“With that foundation now in place, it is the right time to consider the next chapter for Everton. “We will only maintain interest from parties who we firmly believe will be the right stewards to take the Club forward and build on the momentum that has been established.

“Throughout this process, TFG’s approach will remain unchanged. We will support the Club in every way necessary to achieve success on the pitch and will continue to strive to make a positive difference in the communities the Club serves.
“TFG and the Club will make no further comment while this work is underway.”
Founded in 1878, Everton were a founder member of the English Football League in 1888 and were a founder member of the Premier League in 1992, one of three clubs to be founder members of both leagues.
The Toffees are one of the oldest and most successful clubs in England, having won fifteen major trophies: nine football league titles, five FA Cups and one European Cup Winners’ Cup.
The Merseyside club won its first league championship during the 1890-1891 season. After winning four more league championships and two FA Cups, the club experienced a post-World War II hiatus until a revival in the 1960s.
A period of sustained success came in the mid-1980s, when Everton won two further league championships, an FA Cup and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup. The club’s most recent major trophy was the 1995 FA Cup.
