Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has vowed that his command will do everything possible to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killing of cabinet member Eze Umucheke.
This guarantee is given to the community, especially the residents of Umucheke in Onuimo Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Henry Okoye, it was stated, “The tactical unit of the Command, in synergy with other security agencies and local vigilantes, is currently combing the forest around Onuimo community for possible arrest of the fleeing suspects.”
Danjuma made this promise during a condolence visit to Umucheke Community on Sunday morning. He was accompanied by the Sole Administrator of Onuimo LGA, Dr. Emeka Obi; Major AI Maikarifi, who represented the Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze; the Commander of the NSCDC, Commander Mathew Ovye; and other security personnel to conduct a first-hand assessment of the crime.

The commissioner condemned the killing of the chief as a barbaric, inhuman and senseless act. He expressed condolences to the victim’s family and the Umucheke community, assuring them that his death would not be in vain.
Danjuma also promised that tactical units would be permanently stationed in the communities to prevent further attacks until peace is restored.
Initial investigations indicate that the attack was carried out by six gunmen riding three motorcycles, believed to be members of the banned IPOB/ESN group.
According to a police spokesman, Umucheke residents had seen the attackers but did not report it until after the killings had taken place.
The Commissioner stressed the need for community involvement in fighting crime and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
