A group, Imo First Group (IFG), has described the alleged court order to arrest Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha, for alleged criminal conspiracy and forgery, as a ploy and fake news.
The group said this in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.
The IFG challenged those spreading the fake news to make the court order public.
The statement reads: “The fabricated and fabricated story was first posted on social media by Honorable Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, a media aide to Governor Hope Uzodimma, before it was picked up by other media outlets, including Arise TV.”
According to the statement, the authors of the report said that a Senior Magistrates Court based in Abuja issued a bench warrant dated September 9, 2026, following a petition written by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Imo State, Barr. Chukwuemeka Ibejiako, to the Police and DSS on October 8, 2026, for allegedly submitting false APC primary results.
The group has denied the existence of such an order.
“We want to state categorically and unequivocally that no senior magistrate has ordered or issued any arrest warrant for Araraume’s arrest,” he said.
The IFG, however, challenged anyone in possession of the alleged court order to publish it.
“If you claim to have a court order present for the public to see,
“This fabricated trial warrant contained in the report is full of inconsistencies, the trial warrant was dated 9 September 2026, while the REC petition that supposedly triggered it was dated 8 October 2026, with case number CR/M/084/2026,” he said.
The statement also states that the suppliers and messengers of the fake news attempted to deceive the magistrate through an exparte order but were reprimanded
“The magistrate bluntly refused to grant their statement and threatened to arrest them but they continued their lie. What is the problem of office occupants who have never won free and fair elections and have tried to destroy respectable Imo sons who won the elections. We challenge anyone in this macabre dance of surugede to show the court order or warrant of arrest. It is absurd to blackmail respectable Imo sons on the altar of politics dirty,” he said.
