PDP sweeps 20 Bauchi DPRD chairmanship seats

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner in the general elections held in all 20 local government areas of Bauchi State on Saturday.

The Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Independent National Electoral Commission (BASIEC), Alhaji Ahmed Makama, announced the results on Saturday night.

While the Speaker-elect is expected to receive their certificates of return today (Sunday), opposition parties in the state have contested the results.

Announcing the results, Makama said, “For the chairmanship election, PDP won all 20 seats as declared at the local government level.

“And for the council members, the results were announced in the districts with other parties emerging as winners.”
