10 people died, many were injured, due to attacks by bandits, kidnapping Sokoto residents

Residents of Tofa community in Rabah Local Government Area of ​​Sokoto State were attacked by suspected bandits, leaving at least ten people dead, and many others injured.

The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday evening, with the assailants storming into the community and shooting residents before kidnapping dozens of people.

Local reports said that between 38 and 40 residents were abducted by the attackers, and the exact number of people abducted was unknown at the time of this report.

The bandits are also said to have raided a large number of livestock belonging to residents and looted goods during the attack.

This latest incident raises new concerns about the security situation in parts of Rabah LGA, particularly the ability of armed groups to enter communities, carry out prolonged attacks and leave with kidnapped residents and herded by livestock.

Residents are also seeking answers as to how the attackers were able to operate in Tofa, killing and kidnapping residents, and taking away livestock and other valuables without being intercepted by security forces.

When contacted, Spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Ahmed Rufai confirmed the incident.

He, however, assured that the command would provide details of the incident after compiling its report.
