In a major boost to the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign, hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) defected to the APC during a ward-based campaign rally in Igueben, Igueben Local Government Area of ​​Edo State.

APC Campaign Council Director-General Matthew Urhoghide warmly welcomed the defectors, assuring them of equal treatment and opportunities within the party. He expressed confidence in APC governorship candidate Monday Okpebholo as a leader who will listen to the demands of the people.

The APC Campaign Council Coordinator in Edo Central Senatorial District, Odianosen Okojie, urged defectors to mobilize their supporters to vote for the APC on September 21.

Earlier, Okpebholo had addressed supporters in his hometown, Ujabhole in Uwesan, Esan Central Local Government Area, saying: “My people have assured me of their support and votes, so I will not need to campaign here.”

Former governor Adams Oshiomhole, speaking at Irrua, the headquarters of Esan Central Local Government Area, stressed that the PDP has no viable candidate due to court rulings. He urged voters not to waste their votes on the PDP.

Deputy governorship candidate Denis Idahosa has urged his supporters to secure 100 percent of the vote for the APC in Esan Central Local Government Area on September 21.
