Nigerian intelligence chief Ahmed Abubakar resigns

The Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, has resigned from his post.

He submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu on Saturday in Abuja.

However, no reason was given for Abubakar’s resignation as head of the country’s intelligence agency.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Abubakar as NIA Director-General on January 11, 2018.

The former president extended Abubakar’s term at the institution until December 31, 2021.

He also served as Senior Special Assistant (SSAP) for Foreign Affairs/International Relations to the President before being appointed as the head of the NIA.
